Gender Dysphoria & Eating Disorders

Gender dysphoria and eating disorders are deeply intertwined, and often misunderstood in eating disorder recovery. Changing your body size or shape through food and exercise may be a way of shaping your body so that it feels more congruent to your internal mirror. But sometimes this process increases anxiety because you find yourself living in constant fear of small body changes. Or you might find that crafting your body gets in the way of living the life you want.

If you are navigating the reality of living in a body that does not feel like home, please know your struggle is valid and you are not alone. If you feel stuck in thoughts and behaviors that are no longer serving you, join this community to learn practical skills and share life experiences.

This group runs for 8 weeks virtually and is open to DC and MD residents.

Journey to Joy in Movement Group

Journeying towards a healthy relationship with movement is challenging in a world where moving your body is often defined by appearance and numbers. Would you like company on this journey as you try to develop a joyful relationship with movement that serves your mind and body?

This hour-long group is half movement/half support group. In each class, we’ll begin with a chance to check-in, to center our bodies and minds, and to set our intentions for movement. Throughout the group, we will try a variety of movements such as Zumba Gold, Boxing, and Yoga. After the movement portion, we will check back in with a chance to debrief our experiences. It’s a chance to say things that you think but never say in a community that understands.

This group is offered virtually to DC and MD residents.
